In the late 1980’s a mum named Ann Harding had “a fervent longing for children everywhere to know the love of Christ”. When her boys were in their last two years of primary school she met with another concerned mum every week to pray for all aspects of school life.
Gradually as Ann shared the benefits of praying together, other groups started springing up. Ann says, “God was giving us a vision for the Nation! A network of school prayer groups, spanning Australia, covering a whole generation of children with prayer.” Thus Prayer Groups for Schools (PGS) was formed.
By the end of the 1990’s Ann realised the Lord was leading her away from her role in Prayer Groups for Schools. In February 2001 the baton of Prayer Groups for Schools was passed over to Di McRae, who had prayed with and worked alongside Ann for a number of years. In August 2002 the Lord changed the name of PGS to Miracle Education.
With the new name came an intensity to pray for the body of Christ according to Ephesians 1v22-23. “And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church(a headship exercised throughout the church), which is His body the fullness of Him Who fills all in all-for in that body lives the full measure of Him who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere (with Himself).”(AMP)
With the broadening of the vision, Miracle Education is seeing the Holy Spirit move in the youth. High school students are initiating prayer groups and witnessing boldly to their peers. In response to this move by the Holy Spirit, Miracle Education is praying deliberately for the youth to be empowered to reach their generation whether that be at school, university or TAFE
